While addressing policemen in his farewell parade at Police Training School,

Mawroh on 31st Jan, 2011, DGP, Meghalaya, Shri S.B. Kakati exhorted them to

be forever ready and willing to serve the people . " Nobody asked you to join

police. You have chosen the profession. So don't crib when responsibility comes

your way to serve the people." Shri Kakati superannuated today 931.1.2011)

after a distinguished service of 34 years.

Mr Kakati applauded the efforts of the Shillong city Police in educating the

people through Facebook and a tie- up with the radio Red F.M on various

issues related to traffic management including issuing of traffic bulletins. He

highlighted that the State Police is being equipped with modern weapons to

take on the challenge of insurgency.

Mr Kakati emphasized that for policemen to be efficient in discharge of their

duty, they have to be fairly competent in handling computers. The Crime and

Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) which is being implemented

in the state police takes care of imparting computer training to the policemen in

all ranks. He said that computer education has been made one of the subjects

of basic training of unarmed branch constables.

While expressing best wishes to Meghalaya Police, the out -going DGP

acknowledged his gratitude to the officers and men for extending excellent

professional support to him in meeting various challenges that came his way as the DGP.
